No matter what other foundations I try to branch out to, I have the tendency to return to this amazing Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. While others may beg to differ, I can guarantee that if you’re into the kind of makeup I love (natural, dewyish skin, lived in, sensual without being over the top), you’ll love this as much as I do. Here are 5 reasons to sum up the amazingness:
1/ Second skin – No one will ever notice you’re wearing makeup! I’m not sure how Chanel nailed it here, but it looks like enhanced skin – a slight dewiness that gets better as the day goes on, perfect amount of coverage, and just perfection I can’t describe.
2/ SPF Without the Cast – Any makeup lover knows SPF is off limits when being photographed. But I swear, this foundation doesn’t give that ghostly effect. You look as real in photos as you do in person – my product of choice for all special occasions.
3/ Easy to blend – The consistency of this stuff is super thin and watery so it needs some shakin’ before use. The water-based formulation also makes it easy peasy to blend no matter what medium you’re using. For this product, I prefer a standard flat foundation brush or of course, the ultimate beauty blender.
4/ Seasonless – People tend to talk about changing their foundations season to season, but I use this year round – it’s been going strong for me since 2011. I find it as wonderful in the summer as I do in the winter.
5/ Long lasting – Foundation should be used minimally (and as needed) so you shouldn’t really ever be piling it on. The nozzle tip on this bottle allows you to control the amount that comes out, which is nice. I find that a small amount (i.e. pea-sized-pea and a half) is sufficient to even out my skin tone. With both those things in mind, a bottle lasts quite a while so at $47, the price really isn’t that bad.
Caution: The shade range available is a bit tricky, but the crappier thing is that the Chanel Beauty sales associates tend to be horrendous at matching people (and pushy too at that) so just be cautious and don’t let them talk you into the wrong color when buying. No offense to anyone who works for Chanel Beauty but that has been my experience along with other people I know.
