There are so many reasons to love the influencer industry…
The motivation, inspiration, freebies, travels, new places, and great food, BUT nothing beats the people. I have never met so many incredibly talented and driven individuals in my life. Tina has been one of those… She runs the blog Of Leather & Lace which truly takes you on a stylish journey across the globe. We connected on Instagram a while back, so I was so grateful, humbled, and honored that she reached out to me to meet up for photos while I was in NYC over the weekend. And all because of her, I was able to attend the Taoray Wang SS18 show.
I think this just proves how important it is to be kind and genuine to everyone you meet because you just never know… And it’s still insane how often I hear people moan about the difficulties of making connections. Don’t forget that we are living in a digital age. Anything can happen at any point with a few words and a click! That’s exactly how I met Zanita, Tina, and a few others (photos to come)!
The trick to making connections feel authentic is to be authentic… Never approach someone with the intention of receiving something in return. It’s all about taking that initiative to say “hello” and just being really interested in what someone is doing or what they have to say. Sure, it’s even better if you know someone who can personally make that introduction, but don’t undermine the power and value of social media. Another one of my rules of thumb is to always make an introduction whenever I get the opportunity because you just never know how and when someone can return the favor.
Stay tuned for Part 2 of my shoot with Tina and don’t forget to read and follow her blog here.
