Glossier Newbs

glossier reviewglossier

Tried of hearing about all things Glossier yet? I hope not ’cause I just got a fresh batch in – and more on the way.

There’s been TONS and TONS of hype around the new Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich and I tried so hard to fight the temptation, but my skin was just so barren, I couldn’t resist! Plus, I was in need of a new Super Pure, so why not get free shipping? And then with a purchase of the Priming Moisturizer Rich, Glossier was offering the Milk Jelly Cleanser for only $5 more, so really… Why the hell not?

This last Glossier purchase really gave me the opportunity to try almost the ENTIRE Glossier range, which means I can really tell you what I think now!

GLOSSIER PRIMING MOISTURIZER RICH

I always try not to get too excited about moisturizers because they’re usually pretty ordinary. For instance, I didn’t mind the original Priming Moisturizer, but it wasn’t holy grail status. However, the PMR was beyond extraordinary and beats the original PM on so many levels. I was expecting a thick La Mer texture that requires effort rubbing into your skin, but this one packs the moisture without the heavy weight. It’s so emollient, absorbs like milk, and above all, makes my skin feel normal again. Once it’s on, it’s very unnoticeable and doesn’t make me look greasy at all. I’ve been reaching for this day after day – to the point where I’m already half-way through the jar and it’s only been about 4 weeks…that’s calling for a re-stock! You’ll also be happy to hear that makeup loves this stuff :). If you only try one skincare item from Glossier, pick this or the Super Pure Serum. Note that I do love my Saturday Skin Moisturizer, but for a time when my skin is laden with acids, it’s a little too light.

glossier haloscope

GLOSSIER HALOSCOPE – QUARTZ

I think these highlighters were the least of my interest from the start because I have so many highlighters right now! But I’m glad I gave this a chance… And I now have Moonstone en route. I’m sure you’ve heard enough – it’s infused with crystal extracts and houses an oil-essentials core, which gives you a hydrated, dewy finish. This product doesn’t feel like your typical highlighter stick… I think it’s less slick and less emollient; however, it does offer the most natural glow, which I believe is attributed to the texture. Quartz is a pearlescent shade that works well for most fair to medium skin tones – it’s one that I’d wear everyday during the day because it isn’t too obvious or intense. As a highlighter, it’s not a top favorite in my stash; however, for an everyday glow, it’s a winner for sure!

glossier cleanser

GLOSSIER MILK JELLY CLEANSER

The jelly texture here is true to description. All you need is one pump massaged into either dry or damp skin, and then rinse off. My skin feels really soft and conditioned after using this and it does an excellent job removing makeup; however, it leaves a residue, which requires some force to remove completely. That’s the biggest deal-breaker for me. So many people, including bloggers I respect, love this cleanser to the moon and back, but I just didn’t have that kind of relationship with it. I also felt like the scent was off-putting…like plastic or something, but it does fade so don’t let that hinder your decision. Overall, I will not be repurchasing this cleanser…

glossier skin tint

GLOSSIER PERFECTING SKIN TINT – MEDIUM

I wear the Stretch Concealer in the shade medium, so I assumed medium would make sense for me in the Skin Tint. Besides, I don’t consider myself “dark” in any way, shape, or form. Surprisingly, medium was too light – I was a little bummed out at first! I love the idea of the skin tint, but I clearly picked up the wrong shade… Instead, I’ve been mixing it with my Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, which make the perfect pairing! Don’t expect any coverage, just a glowing almost-naked complexion – something ideal for girls who want that no-makeup makeup look.

That sums of my Glossier experience. Here’s a list of my TOP recommended items in case you’re interested!
