New In The Beauty Department

I haven’t been on my blogging game lately and I’m not quite sure why to be honest – just been feeling a tad unmotivated and this shitty weather doesn’t help I guess. So anyway, thought I’d make a comeback with some new things I’ve been testing out in the beauty department.

In a previous post, I talked about how I’ve been able to contain my blemishes, notably through my tendency to mix salicylic acid + benzoyl peroxide treatments. I’ve been out of any salicylic acid variation for about 2 weeks now and my skin reaped the consequences quickly. (Maybe that’s why I’ve shied from the camera..hehe) So desperate as I was, I made an obvious decision to get the DDF Acne Control Treatment because I enjoyed it’s benzoyl peroxide counterpart so much and I’m glad I did. Those two products work amazingly together. My skin has dried out a bit, but nothing a good moisturizer can’t fix. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of using multiple acne fighting treatments together…you just gotta try it. Throw in other -acids and the results are almost instant (meaning a day or so, which is really instant when it comes to acne). I use them day and night together…it hasn’t affected my makeup or anything like that so I’m an official fan for sure. DDF deserves more hype and coverage than it currently receives so I highly recommend the line if you haven’t discovered it.

I also picked up this lovely Korres Lip Butter (Jasmine) – kind of an oldie in the makeup world, but I wanted an alternative to my Dior Baume de Rose. I love this stuff – I mean it’s no duplicate, but the hydration is exactly what I had hoped for and the color payoff is even better than I expected. I love a muted lip and Jasmine really tones down your natural lip color in the most unnoticeable way. This will easily be a repurchase for me.

Yes, I had written about the amazing Clarins Exfoliating Toner, but was also in need of something that could be used daily. My pick for this purpose was the Hydroxatone Anti-Aging Toner. I’m a newb to the Hydroxatone line so I really didn’t know what to expect. I do feel like the bottle is a tad small for what I’m used to, but at $20, I’m giving it a shot. I’m quite the cheater when it comes to toners so I’ve never really stuck to just one. As of now, I’m not exactly sure how I feel about it so give me a rain check and I’ll report back. Good thing is, I haven’t had a bad reaction and I did notice it remove the extra goop, but I’m waiting for that “wow” factor everyone was raving about across the beauty retailers.

I also got this Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper as a GWP (gift w/ purchase), but haven’t tested it out. I don’t have oily skin at the moment so I’ll need to test it later next month when the humidity hits. The reviews seem to be nothing but positive remarks so fingers crossed. I also have a few weddings this summer, which will be the ultimate test for it.
