To be honest, one of the things I’ve feared most since blogging was putting myself out here on the web for everyone to know/see. I know it’s contradicting, but very true – I struggle with the fear of being criticized, receiving negative feedback/comments, and just dealing with mean people. I don’t have the highest tolerance nor the greatest patience so to be extra honest, I take things personally and can be easily offended depending on the verbiage and tone.
But the reality of life is that you aren’t going to please everyone. Some will say “your posts are too feminine” or “I don’t agree with what you said” or “That’s just ugly”. Some people can hardly take a joke or read between the lines. And many have strong opinions, wanting to voice them loudly (they usually will too). So at the end of the day, I think it’s important to create things – be it clothes, articles, blog posts, photographs, whatever – that you truly believe in and are excited about because if you stay true to who you are, nothing can take it away from you or change your mind.
Get shot down for a while, but remember to get back up and move forward. Always get back up. And always move forward.
