I have a serious love-hate relationship with discounts – aside from getting a pretty good deal, I end up spending a whole lot so they basically cancel each other out. You really can’t decline though when it comes to beauty products because it’s rare that they go on sale especially if it comes tax-free and at no shipping expense, yes please! Count me in! So I ended up with the items above because my favorite beauty e-tailer, beauty.com, sent me a 20% coupon (unrelated to blogging) on all purchases. They obviously know my weak spot so they keep those things coming.
I ended up going with a few things, both old and new. First off, I ran out of my favorite heat protectant + root boosting combo spray about two weeks ago so a new one was a must. I love this Sally Hershberger Supreme Lift Root Spray because it’s the only thing that seems to not weigh down my hair. I have flat, heavy Asian hair that feels impossible to do anything with, but this spray gives me hope. It adds the right amount body while providing the grit and texture I’m looking for. I’ve been using this for the last three years and have probably gone through about 10 bottles…I’m not sure what I would do if they got rid of it. It’s pretty life changing.
So going on my second bottle of this Caudalie Beauty Elixir, that’s truly an elixir. It’s quite expensive, but sooo good that I possibly can’t do without it. I’m a lover of a good worn in makeup look – something a little imperfect, a bit rocker – and I can usually achieve that with few spritz of this stuff right after I put makeup on. You might be thinking that defeats the purpose of makeup, but that’s how I like it. The asian-referenced herbal scent is an added bonus.
I know I was just talking about how bored I’ve become with the Kardashian makeup fad, but that doesn’t mean I’m not into contouring powders. Subtlety is key here and my favorite one is Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder. I had to buy a backup of this because once you get to try it, you simply can’t go elsewhere. It’s undetectable, pigmented, easily blendable, and truly mimics shadows – everything a dreamy contouring powder should be. Unless I become unreasonably poor, I simply cannot stray.
For newness, I was in dire need of a hand cream and I haven’t seen as many rave reviews about a product in this particular area as I did for Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer. I haven’t used it yet, but I’m excited for my trial tonight and will be dreaming of baby-soft hands in the meantime. Review to come for those of you in my dry skin boat.
As an added bonus, I received Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer as a gift. Any SPF facial moisturizer is a good idea as we transcend into the sunny months. I’ve never tried any skincare products from Jack Black, but I think these two will give me a good start. I’m always up for new skincare trials so I’ll let you know what I find out in the next week or so.
