I almost regularly wear heels just in case there happens to be an important vendor or management meeting and because they always elevate a casual outfit – something I lean towards. But realistically, flats are the way to go when you’re in a rush and for obvious health reasons. I always start and end my day in flats so I’ve been donning my favorite Steve Madden espadrilles (a great alternative to the ever popular Celines) all summer long til now knowing I’d need a winter substitute. That would be slip ons since I’m not a ballet-flat kinda girl. However, I couldn’t find a pair I wanted, which basically means I’ve been wearing my espadrilles this whole time. They’re clearly due for retirement now that we’re deep into the winter season.
The problem was that I wanted plain white slip ons that were leather (not canvas) for durability and structure. And also for a sleek, contrasted look – I’m so picky, I know. Luckily, I found the perfect pair a couple weeks ago on Asos with a textured snake print that is almost invisible to the eye since they’re white. I’m so in love with them because they’re extra comfortable and versatile, I can pretty much wear them with any outfit. I was so excited about them, I planned on wearing them to work today in an uber casual yet still work appropriate ‘fit.
But then, it snowed. So I swapped them out for my Zara over the knee boots. Nonetheless, I know they’ll be in constant rotation after the snow melts well into next year.
