It’s become super important to me to not put too much thought into what I’m going wear…that’s mainly how I try to stay uninfluenced, which is actually a lot harder than it sounds. This usually starts with how I’m feeling at the start of the day, but heels – I almost always wear heels (unless my kids are with me, then I just throw on some espadrilles or slip ons). The pieces above are pretty much the embodiment of my style – never too exuberant, flirty, or body hugging, yet still feminine. I’m often asked what’s the key to achieving that effortless, yet still fashionable emanation, and to be honest, I don’t know. But I’d suggest starting with looking at what’s around you…if it’s constantly recurring, are those elements you want to incorporate into your style? When it’s over, are you still going to want it/like it/keep it? Next, look at who you’re drawn to – is she alluring, can she flit gracefully from one place to another, does she surpass the ebbs + flows of fashion? And if so, why? It seems a lot more thought-provoking then it needs to be, but once you figure that out, it becomes easier for you to cull an optimal wardrobe. If it’s too generic, what can you do to elevate it and does it need to be? Eventually, this becomes second nature and you just naturally get with it.
