Fashion isn’t something I talk too much about on LJ although I’d loooove to talk about it more…
Where I’m from (and probably most of America), to be sexy means to be provocative. Flaunt what you’ve got. Show some skin and more. If you’re somewhat thin with massive TNAs and willing to expose pieces of it, you’re deemed a variation of sexy. And no hate on the K-Clan, EmRata, or the Victoria’s Secret squad, who are all V hot by the way, but that’s not the kind of sexy I’m into…
Sexy is intelligent. It’s intellectual.
When I see someone sexy, she’s gotta be mysterious and real…someone I aspire to be like – a little imperfect, alluring, AND refined.
I’ve always considered my personal muses women who are polished and a little undone. Insouciant without trying too hard. That spells (of course) the perennially chic French gang – Emmanuelle Alt, Geraldine Saglio, Capucine Safyurtlu, and Melanie Huynh (I know Melanie’s in a different gang, but still…) – and Ashley Olsen. Everyone used to lose their minds over Mary Kate’s edgier situation, but I have and will forever and always adore Ashley Olsen’s sophisticated take.
As is the case with many things though, the insatiable quest for something new kicks in and I began looking for more. That was about the same time Zanita intro’d me to a different class of street style queens: the Italians! Since then, I haven’t been able to keep my eyes off of Giorgia Tordini & Diletta Bonaiuti, especially Diletta!
With the copious amounts of street style inspo we’re exposed to these days, bloggers and everyone else can start to look the same *yawns*. But there are a few who know exactly what it means to be individualistic and keeps it fresh. Diletta is without a doubt one of those… Lust-worthy locks aside (which by the way, she chopped off into a lob), she SLAYS over and over! She never fails to inspire my wardrobe in the way she exquisitely cements together pieces you’d never expect to work yet culminates to a cohesive masterpiece. Leave it to her to surprise you with the unexpected, which is usually through color, proportions, or a startling statement piece. Diletta’s got an infectious cool-girl designation I can’t exactly pinpoint – it’s feminine yet subversive, simple but intelligent, and pulled together but somehow effortless. I can’t stop ogling over her. And as of late, she’s been the epitome of sexy to me.
What is sexy to you?
